Lesson 4: Challenges & Strategies

We look at the common and not so common holiday challenges and I share my best strategies to overcome these obstacles. We look at practical challenges as well as challenging your thoughts.

Lesson 5: Our Precious Bodies

I'll help you understand negative body image and how to deal with negative body image challenges. I'll also tell you what you can do to start changing this.

Lesson 6: Self-Care In The Holidays

We'll look at dealing with the busyness, overwhelm, family and friends... And how to deal with difficult emotions, and anticipating and taking care of your needs.

Lesson 7: Reflections On Your Holiday

The final lesson is a post holiday de-brief and reflection. What worked and what are the lessons learned? We'll also look at setting intentions for the next part of the year or the New Year.

Who teaches The Holiday Eating Course?

I’m Xenia Ayiotis. I am a certified Intuitive Eating Counsellor and Mindful Eating Coach (MB-EAT). I am also a certified Life Coach through the Life Coach School.

My background is a Masters degree in languages. I worked in the tourism industry for over 20 years as a tour guide and tour operator organising tours to Southern Africa. I changed careers in 2011 after I worked through my eating challenges.

For almost 30 years I struggled with my own food and body issues, I was a chronic dieter, struggled with severe restriction followed by binge eating, and negative body image. I was fortunate enough to find Intuitive Eating and Mindfulness that have helped me transform my relationship with food and my body and my life! For this reason, this work is very meaningful to me. I have seen and experienced how recovering from a dysfunctional relationship with food can transform every aspect of your life.

My purpose is to help people who are struggling with food and body image challenges find peace with food, eating and their bodies and live a life of freedom. I feel privileged and grateful to share this work with people. I offer private coaching sessions, workshops, an 8 Week in person “Food Freedom” group programme and I offer retreats.

Why did I create the holiday eating programme?

Going away on holiday and the December holiday season can be a difficult time for people. It’s a busy time. Working with clients over the years, I have seen that most feel really anxious about food and social events over the holidays. For those of us with food and body image challenges going on holiday can be even more difficult. Everyone deserves to enjoy their holiday and feel relaxed and enjoy food and all of the aspects of their holiday! This is your support to eat with joy during your holiday!

Does The Holiday Eating course start and end at a specific time?

No, this is a self-paced online course. You can start anytime for any holiday! It can be any holiday throughout the year. A weekend away, a cruise, a summer or winter holiday.

Do I need to have any prior knowledge of Mindful or Intuitive Eating?

Not at all! This is a Holiday Eating course so we touch on the Intuitive and Mindful Eating principles where applicable.

I am familiar with Intuitive and Mindful eating. Will this course offer me something new?

Yes! Absolutely! I've designed the course to address common challenges specifically with holidays and eating. If you’re already familiar with Intuitive Eating and Mindful Eating this course will help you establish more of the principles during your holiday.

I’m struggling with an eating disorder. Can I take this course?

This course is designed to help people with a history of yo-yo dieting and dysfunctional eating navigate holiday eating peacefully and joyfully. It’s not meant for people with active eating disorders or those in the initial stages of eating disorder recovery.

Do I need to do the course in order of the lessons?

It’s a good idea to start with Lesson 1 if you are not familiar with Intuitive Eating and follow with Lesson 2. You can do the rest of the lessons in any order. If you are already familiar with Intuitive Eating you could skip Lesson 1 but I recommend you listen or read as a refresher.
